Musical Futures Australia
Lalor North College has been a Champion School for the musical futures model for the past 5 years. Classroom/Percussion teacher Dino Azzollini is the facilitator of the program and heads a team of highly energetic and skillful instrumental and vocal staff at the school. Lalor North College is a 7-12 school and music is one of most popular electives. The music program at the school has grown over the past few years due to the hard working staff at the school and supported by the school administration.
The program’s strength is due to the fact that classroom and instrumental teachers work hand in hand to achieve its goals. Harnessing the love of music through performance-based classes and to enable students to experience and participate in music making. Apart from a large classroom and rehearsal rooms, Lalor North College has a well-equipped recording studio and is utilized by students at the school and by local primary schools.

Dino Azzollini (Australia) – my Musical Futures story
I have been teaching Music at Lalor North College since 2004 where we initially tried to set up a traditional Music Program such as the one I had successfully set up at a previous school. However this model didn’t seem to be connecting with the students I had in front of me. I then spoke with the Instrumental Music Teachers and we agreed to change our approach to include a more contemporary/team teaching, popular music focus. It quickly became one of the most popular electives at our school. Click below for the full story.
